App Review - Runtastic Heart Rate


Runtastic Heart Rate is a heart rate monitor by Runtastic, which monitor your heart rate per minute by requiring you to put your index finger tip gently on your phone's rear camera lens. Similar to most mobile heart rate monitor, it required LED flash light to turn on. 

During measurement, Runtastic Heart Rate will display real time PPG Graph display. It did checked for finger presence before proceed to get your heart beat calculated. If you move your finger away, the progress bar will stop and reset. Runtastic Heart Rate doesn't provide continuous heart beat measuring. It stops when the progress bar filled up.

It can measure your heart beat within 10 seconds, provided you put your finger steadily behind the rear camera lens. When finishing the measurement, it will prompt you with your heart rate value with its responding level of heart rate ( < 60 is good, 60 - 90 consider average, and > 90 is bad ). You can also set your measuring type (i.e. General, Resting, Before Sport, After Sport and Max Heart rate). You can also set how you feel currently along with note jotting functionality. You are able to upload, store and analyze your result on Runtastic Server too. You can also view your average heart rate over time from its history page too besides sharing your heart rate result to social media. 




Runtastic Heart Rate is available for free for both iOS and Android (with limited functionalities). There is also a PRO version (paid app) for both platform.
